Why does my child find groups hard?

A lot of families value their child being involved in groups or team sports, but it isn’t always easy.

If you have had enough time to read through my Services page, you will have seen that I run a program in Toowoomba under Sense Team Sports, which is a company founded by an occupational therapist and Rugby 7s Olympian (scroll to the bottom of the page to find a link to their website). I was raised in team sport environments, each Saturday playing footy and then hanging out at the clubhouse with some hot chips. That is why I am passionate about opportunities for our children to develop the skills that allows them to be a part of any team, whether it’s sports or something less physical. So many positive opportunities can stem from being part of team.

That’s not to say that it is always a smooth, easy process for our children. Various factors can contribute to how your child manages groups, and this article by the Sense Team Sports team begins exploring these. I encourage you to have a read, it is a great prompt for starting to problem solve some of those group-based challenges.
